Fish Market Associate

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our fish market staff full time. Our business is open seven days a week. The winter hours of operation are 9:30am-5:30pm. In the spring, summer, and fall months, we expand those hours to 8:30am-8pm. The opportunity for a set winter schedule and a shifting summer schedule exists. The ideal candidate would have experience with retail and some food (not required), particularly in a fast-paced setting, and will be responsible for maintaining a clean and friendly customer space. The job requires a basic understanding of customer service, cleanliness, time management, and the ability to work as a team member in a quickly moving environment.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable, customer-focused Fish Market Associate to join our team. In this role, you will handle fresh seafood products, ensure quality standards are met, and provide excellent service to our customers. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, cleanliness, and product knowledge are key.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and store seafood deliveries to maintain freshness and quality.
  • Prepare, clean, and fillet fish and shellfish according to customer requests.
  • Arrange and display seafood products attractively in refrigerated cases.
  • Monitor product rotation and remove items past their prime.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area in compliance with health regulations.
  • Assist customers with product selection, cooking tips, and portion recommendations.
  • Operate scales, cash registers, and other market equipment as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in seafood handling, food service, or retail preferred (training available).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in cold environments and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of seafood varieties and preparation methods is a plus.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
